So my buddy just bought Yankees/Red Sox tickets for tuesday in April. Is that John Lackey’s first start?

My buddy just got tickets for me on Tuesday the 6th. It is the second game of the season. I know Beckett will pitch first Sabathia on opening day but do you know who will PROBABLY pitch on Tuesday? I’m assuming it’s Lackey/Burnett. Who do you think would pitch?

No. It’s probably Lester, just because, like all managers, Terry Francona doesn’t trust new guys in their first outing. He knows that (especially versus the Yankees) the number two spot in the rotation is a hot bed for good matchups, and a rule of managing is that you don’t put guys who aren’t used to playing for you in big situations early in the year. I’d say the rotation this year ends up being: Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Matsuzaka, Buchholz. Sorry though. I’d love to see Lackey’s first start as well.
