Tompkins County’s non-profit youth theatre company, Running to Places Productions, presents Yankees August 29 — 31 and September 5 - 7 in the Lansing Middle School Auditorium. Faust meets professional baseball in this light, fact-paced and devilishly clever Broadway classic that includes favorites “Heart” and “Whatever Lola Wants.” Running to Places gratefully acknowledges exclusive show sponsor CSP Management, as well as grant support from the Helen Thomas Howland Foundation as administered by The Community Foundation of Tompkins County. Director Joey Steinhagen, Choreographer Todd Peterson, Music Director Mike Quinn lead a cast of talented young people from Dryden, Trumansburg, Candor, Lansing, and Ithaca in the sure-to-please final production of R2P’s inaugural season. The company also continues to enjoy its relationship with Ithaca College Theatre Arts alum and students: Producer/Scenic Designer Gail Belokur, Technical Director Matt Mills, Production Manager Sarah Levine, Lighting Designer Teresa Sears, Costume Designer Katie Delaney and Stage Manager Nia Sciaretta all support the production. Friday and Saturday shows at 7pm, Sunday shows at 2 pm. Tickets are available at the door, at the Ticket Center at Clinton House (273-4497), and online at www.runningtoplaces.org.

Reviewers have likened the mania at the shows to that of the Beatles. The tour is being filmed by Walt Disney Studios for a 3-D movie to be released in February of 2009. With all the frenzy surrounding them, Jonas Brothers still make time to give back. Jonas Brothers started their own foundation, Change for the Children to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed. Supporting children with Diabetes will be an important focus of the foundation, given that Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. During the “Burning Up” tour, Jonas Brothers have been auctioning tickets and meet & greet passes to raise money for the foundation, which has yielded over $275,000 to date. A special Nick Jonas t-shirt is being sold at the concerts as well, raising additional dollars for Change for the Children. Sales from the t-shirt have netted over $420,000.Yet their energy is still boundless. While on tour, Jonas Brothers are already recording new material on a Verizon tour bus specially outfitted with a recording studio.
